Launched in 2009, Rent the Runway is an online service that provides designer dress and accessory rentals. The company has received approximately $126 million in venture capital from Bain Capital Ventures, Highland Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Condé Nast’s parent company Advance Publications, American Express, and Novel TMT Ventures. As of October 2016, Rent the Runway has over 6 million members, 975 employees, and over 400 designer partners. While initially a purely ecommerce company, it now has brick-and-mortar retails locations in New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

About The Speaker
Josh Builder is the Chief Technology Officer at Rent the Runway, a fashion company with a technology soul that is disrupting the way women get dressed. In his role he oversees all aspects of the company’s technology strategy, including design, product management, engineering, and retail systems, translating business growth into workable technology solutions that scale both technically and operationally.
Previously, Builder was the Chief Technology Officer at Soul Cycle, a fitness company that is reinventing indoor cycling, where he led a cross functional team and oversaw the company’s technology strategy. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Technology Officer at The Ochard, a pioneering music, video and film distribution and technology company. He also ran the company’s top-ranked Multi Channel Network.
After graduating with a BS in Information Systems & Economics from Carnegie Mellon, Josh launched a music website, Loose Records, which covered live music in 6 cities, and his own record label, North Street Records. He now serves as an advisor and board member of startups and growth oriented companies across a variety of industries.  
Josh lives in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter.
