Code Art Miami: Digital Art Exhibition, Tech Expo & Speaker Symposium

March 18, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

“Code Art Miami” showcases art created through computer programming by girls in grades 3-12. Attendees will be able to view and interact with the art, as well as try their hand at coding and learn more about local STEAM resources at a Tech Ed Expo taking place during the event. Other fun activities include creating art in Virtual Reality, a raffle to win an Animation/Gaming summer camp scholarship, and a People’s Choice digital art competition.
The event showcases ways that Art and Code are merging and highlights the need for more gender diversity in Computer Science. A high point of the evening will be inspirational talks by Miral Kotb, creator of iLuminate, and Cassie Tarakajian of the Processing Foundation. Miral will talk about her personal journey merging her passions for computer science and dance, and Cassie will discuss ways that Art drives Technology and vice versa. The evening will conclude with the awards ceremony for the all-girls coding competition.
This is a great event for students, parents, STEAM educators, artists curious about coding as a new medium of expression, and more experienced coders interested in creating art through coding.
