Product Owner Group Series: User Story Mapping

September 29, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Product Owner group focuses on sharing and teaching best practices in agile product management and helping improve the product management function in companies within the South Florida community. This is open to everyone who wants to enhance their knowledge and skill sets; regardless of your role or job function.
Every month we will meet to share new topics, whether it be a guest speaker or interactive workshop. We will perform a retrospective after every event in order to inspect and adapt and help develop our series to be beneficial for the group.
Directions:
Pull in the driveway (there’s a big sign, hard to miss) turn left (follow the sign that says “offices”). Park near the SE corner of the building in any unmarked space. Look for the door that says “corporate offices. (Which should be easy to see from the lot.) Enter through that door. Pass through the doors directly behind it then take the doors on the left.
Snacks/Beverages: Sponsored by Peak Activity
Agenda:
• 6:00pm-6:20pm: Meet and Greet
• 6:20pm-6:30pm: Announcements and Sponsorship Appreciation
• 6:30pm-7:45pm: Topic of the night

Tonight’s Topic: “Add a Second Dimension to Your Flat Product Backlog: User Story Mapping Session”
Guest Speaker: Anjali Leon
Frustrated with the limited visibility offered by a traditional flat product backlog? Looking to make your project discovery sessions more collaborative? Want an easy way to share the full scope of your project? User Story Mapping may be the answer you are looking for.
Popularized by Jeff Patton, User Story Mapping is a simple, yet powerful visual and collaborative technique that can be used to gather requirements, capture the full scope of your project, and plan your release roadmap. User Story Maps can also become a useful tool to track your project.

In this face paced workshop, you will learn the concept and technique of User Story Mapping.  Often described as a “game changer” by people who have adopted it, User Story Mapping goes beyond Agile projects. Don’t be surprised if find yourself using it to plan all types of projects and events!  You may find it is a “game changer” for you too!
